A bit about me, Valhalla Gaming, and the people who are an integral part of it.

I'm a jack of many trades, and a king of a one.  My enthusiasm in gaming has spanned from back in the old NES days.  Having the privilege of growing up with the age of gaming has given me many insights on the gaming world and it's community.  Systems I own include but are not limited to systems as new as the Xbox 360, Nintendo Wii, and go as far back as the Commodore 64.  I'm preferable to fighting games, certain RPGs and action adventure, but I have played most everything save for sports games.  If you want to play basketball in a game, just go outside and play.  Exceptions to this rules are NBA Jam and NFL Blitz.

I started attending conventions in 1999.  Fanime 2000-2003 showed me what had to be one of the best game rooms I had ever seen.  In 2004, there was no room due to lack of department.  However, the game room's return in 2005 was very lackluster.  It was this event that inspired me to start heading a game room of my own.

In 2006, I headed the game room for Anime Los Angeles.  I ran the room from 2006 to 2009, in which I provided many avenues of video gaming and tournaments packed with awesome prizes.  An unfortunate turn of events led to my removal from the department in 2009.

In 2010, I was recruited by Anime Conji, located in the San Diego Metro area, to head their game room.  I currently head their game room to this day.  I have also recently been named head of gaming for Pacific Media Expo, located in Los Angeles.

The objective of my game rooms is to provide a fun, exciting place for anime and game fans alike to try out games new and old, mixing competition, education in the history of gaming, and just plain fun all into one trifecta.

Valhalla Gaming is the collective name of the group which hosts these game rooms.  The primary members of Valhalla Gaming are as follows:

Athena Pappa

-Athena handles logistics and is the 'silent' partner of the game room.  Having previous experience in the convention circuit, she excels at room setup, including maximizing the amount of equipment that can be put in one room, maintaining efficiency of collecting entry fees for tournaments, handling equipment rentals and the like.  She holds equal power with me in the game room, and at anytime that I might not be there, her word is my word.

Mike Spragg

-Mike, a.k.a. "OlafRedland", is a prominent member of the fighting game community and a great friend of mine.  If anyone had the potential to eclipse my love for and variety of gaming, it would be him.  Mike is currently a game tester and part-time beating deliveryman.  Mike's skill ranks with some of the best there is, especially in Marvel vs. Capcom 3.  Our comparable skills are equal in some, and in others we exceed each other.  If I can't answer a question about it, he probably can.

-"Poor Man" Joey Vargas

I'll be honest.  I gave him that nickname, but enough about that.  Joey Vargas is an aspiring artist with heavy interest in gaming.  Likely one of the biggest Mega Man fans you'll see around, Joey is a hard worker in the game room, and is now attempting to use his artistic talents to further his way.

Other topics you may see in this blog correlate to other subjects and things I have great interest in.  Heavily influenced by german cars, I'm a car enthuiast, keeping up to date on the models and brand names that keep my adrenaline pumping.  Also being in gaming has helped lead me to being a tech nut, always interested in new gadgets and electronics that come along the way.

Please enjoy yourself here, and if you have any question, comments, suggestions, or requests on topics, let me know!
